And so it begins!

One of my greatest passions in life is to teach people about agriculture and where their food comes from. It brings a smile to my heart when I can see kids learning first hand and their excitement when sharing what they have seen and done.

For the past five summers we (my parents and I) have planned tours of agriculture around the country and taken 10 to 20 high school students to experience authentic learning in the Hillsborough County Summer Ag Tour. This year I wanted to help students learn about the state they live in. Many people think of beaches, Mickey Mouse, and old people when they think about Florida. Little do they know that the number 2 industry, second to tourism, is agriculture. We are leading contributors in citrus, sugar cane, fresh produce, and so much more.

Students have the opportunity to join in our Florida Ag Tour series. We are splitting the state into three regions, North Florida, Central Florida and South Florida, through out the year. The first trip is in full swing. We started today at Cedar Key Clam Farm in Cedar Key, Florida, and ended in Ocala learning about the Equine Science program at Central Florida College.

Every day the kids will share their experiences through this portal to share with their family, friends and community. We hope you are able to learn and experience through their eyes.
